Bhopal is a city in Madhya Pradesh, India. It was the site of an industrial disaster that took place at a pesticide plant, which accidentally released methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas. Over 500,000 people were exposed to the gas and other chemicals. 2,259 people immediately died, 8,000-10,000 died within 72 hours, and 25,000 eventually died from gas-related diseases. This all occured in December 1984.
