One highly effective way of storing solar energy which should be gaining ground soon is salt! It relieves the issue of generating power after the sun’s gone down. The idea is rooted in the traditional method of using the sun’s heat to boil water and spin a turbine, but uses its mirrors to heat salt. The salt melts into a liquid twice as dense as water, and is able to store the heat used to melt it as energy which can be used at later points.
