For an existing car there is only so much you can do. Make sure your truck is well maintained, the engine is tuned up and the tires are properly inflated to get maximum gas efficiency. Don’t carry around lots of extra junk in the bed or cab and reduce the weight of the truck. Use green products to was the inside and outside of the car. Get the truck cleaned at a car wash instead of the driveway. Car washes have to treat and recycle their water.
If your truck is diesel powered you could get the filter installed on the gas tank and then the truck would be able to run off of bio diesel.
Also according to Discovery Channels Myth Busters leaving the tail gate on and latched is actually the most fuel efficient option.
