Drought tolerant and hardy plants, such as Sedum. These are small thick leaved plants that have fiborous roots. They don’t have a taproot, which is an advantage growing in green roofs, which often have shallow layers of soil. They are wind-resistant. Alpine plants, liked Japanese Iris tectorum, are also suitable for green roofs because of their hardiness.
