The greenest (no pun intended) brand of artificial turf is probably from a company called ForeverLawn. They manufacture fake grass that is made out of 75% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.
There is an ongoing debate about whether artificial turf or real grass is better for the environment. Fake grass does have some advantages, especially in areas that have very little water. The way Americans care for their lawns uses large amounts of water and pesticides. Artificial turf does not need to be watered of mowed, but it may release harmful chemicals into the environment.
How about just stick with grass? It is definitely the most eco-friendly if taken care of properly. Just look at israel. They are doing wonders with the amount of water they actually have. However, it is still depleting very rapidly. Take a look at their drip-irrigation for grass, it is great!!
