Drive less: consider getting rid of one or more cars, maybe all of them; use public transit more often; walk and bike more
Eat more locally grown foods: buy foods from farmer’s market, subscribe to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), buy in season fruits and veggies
retrofit house to be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter
On top of the suggestions above, the best thing we can do for the environment is EDUCATE his or her community on environmental issues.
According to Aldo Leopold, an influential early environmental author, education is key to getting people to live eco-conscious lives.
The great thing about a family endeavor is it will get your whole family involved. If you have younger children, educating them will be very beneficial because they’ll be learning about the environment their whole lives. A family can volunteer together, and this will be a great bonding experience as well.
