I think the best thing about LEED certification is the way the program works to empower, and not merely rate, the architects, construction companies, and engineers responsible for putting together building projects. This way, knowledge is shared and industry change can be affected in a way that looks forward to new and developing projects. This encourages the growth of sustainable principles in construction instead of stagnantly assessing building development.
LEED is a universally-recognized system that measures sustainability in buildings, developed by the US Green Building Council. LEED provides a third-party account for a structure’s green capabilities, including energy-savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions, indoor quality and resource management. These buildings are literally monuments to the green movement, and the impact they have on the environment is overwhelmingly positive.
