I’m a little not sure if you mean an actual roof material, or insulation within your roof. If it’s the actual roof material, than wood shingles have a slightly higher R Value than asphalt shingles, neither of which is actually all that high at a .97 and a .44 respectively. As far as insulation, Polyisocyanurate has the best R value at 7.20 and foamed in place Polyurethane is second with a 6.25. Polyisocynurate is a variation and improvement of typical polyurethane.
