Unfortunately, it really seems difficult to pass green bills that are really effective in the US. It seems like the only way to pass environmental legislation at all is to make concessions for big corporations and the logging and mining industries — unfortunately, they have a lot of clout and have been pretty successful at preventing any laws from passing which might impact their bottom line. I think the only way to change this is for more people to help fundraise and vote for candidates who are strong on environmental issues.
