A good way to protect oneself from mosquitoes and transmission of viruses such as Dengue Fever is to be aware of peak exposure times of mosquito bites. For instance, peak biting activity which can lead to the transmission of Dengue Fever, is daylight hours. Avoiding the outdoors during peak exposure time or taking preventative measures such as wearing insect repellent will help. In addition, making sure to wear appropriate clothing will also help aid against mosquito bites. Appropriate clothing includes long-sleeved shirts, hats, boots, and long pants. Optimum protection can be achieved if insect repellent is used on clothing and/or exposed skin.
