Studies have found that gasoline mixed with ethonol has been much more effective in vehicles than pure gasoline. There are only four gas stations that provide ethonol in the US. The fuel called E85, 85% ethonol and 15% gasoline, is more environmentally friendly than most fuel sources. However, economists are finding that more energy is used to produce E85 as it does gasoline. Though ethonol is a replacement fuel, greenhouse gases remain stagnant compared to regular gasoline.
That’s four stations in Maryland selling E85 – not four in the US. There are on the order of 2400 stations in the US carrying E85.
