Beach erosion occurs because the shore is always changing. Sand is being added and removed by the sea. Beach erosion is what happens when the sea eats up more sand than can be replaced. This can be a natural occurrence, or a man-made problem. The majority of the sand comes from rivers and streams and damming this bodies of water can led to beach erosion. Beach erosion is not the most damaging of problems, but it can be compounded into a worse problem if seal levels are rising or geological sinking is occurring.
