Pandas live in the temperate forests of central China, an area that receives 30-40 inches of rainfall per year. The monthly average comes out to be 2.5-3.33 inches per month.
Although much of the panda population has separated and declined, they make their natural homes in the bamboo forests in the mountains of western China, specifically the Qinling and Minshan mountain ranges. Western china itself receives the least amount of rainfall per year, averaging about 8 inches of rain. However, in the mountainous regions, there is abundant rainfall.
