A 2005-2009 population census puts the average family size at 3.19 so assuming that the there are two parents per family, the average amount of kids would be 1.19.

All groups have undergone a significant reduction since the 1970s. “The average number of children per mother is two, and the average family size is three.” Larger families are now more difficult to manage, economically and practically.
The CIA World Factbook says that the total fertility rate for the U.S. as of 2011 was 2.06 children per woman.
This puts our total fertility rate at #123 out of 223 countries in the world.
