    It is a tree that has a wide range across North America, often called quaking aspen due to it’s wide round leaves that tremble in the slightest wind. It can be used for furniture.

    Aspen is a common name for trees of the Salicaceae family. The species in this family are trees distinguished by their nearly round leaves on mature trees, 4-12 centimeters in diameter with irregular rounded teeth. Aspen wood is white and soft, but fairly strong, and has low flammability. Aspens and other members of the Populus genus contain salicylates, compounds related to aspirin. Leaves and leaf buds of aspens have been used to treat burns, irritations, aches, and swollen joints.

Other trees in this family include the Bigtooth Aspen in eastern North America, and the White Poplar in northwest Africa/southern Europe/east to central Asia, among several others. Aspen wood is white and soft but strong, and has low flammability. It has a number of uses, notably for making matches, however it an unpopular firewood among campers.
