The Pacific has a higher concentration than the Atlantic. This is probably both because it is larger and because much of it is subtropic, allowing for greater biodiversity.
Adding to what UrbanUrsine mentioned, when I was in Maui I couldn’t believe the amount of fish that I saw in the ocean. The warm waters are a perfect breeding ground for many tropical species, and they really were beautiful to look at. It would seem that an environment like this would be a perfect marine habitat, and I would imagine that the same could be said for other parts of the Pacific.
