According the the BPA question and answer section on Toxic Nation, BPA plastics are those that have a #7 recycle symbol. Not all communities have recycling facilities for #7 plastics, but if they do, these items can be recycled into something besides food or drink containers such as playground equipment. There seems to be some concern that throwing BPA containing products in the landfill can allow the BPA to leach out of the plastics and make it into the soil or into our water.
