a tangelo is a hybrid of a mandarin orange and a grapefruit or pummelo. They were first created by Dr. Walter Swingle of Eustis, Florida in 1897. They are juicy, flavorful, more cold-hardy than grapefruits (although not quite as much as mandarins), and range in size from the size of a sweet orange to that of a grapefruit. they’re mostly grown in Florida.
