Although there are no legal definitions of the term, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, a Superfood is “a food considered especially nutritious or otherwise beneficial to health and well-being.” Some examples of commonly labeled superfoods include blueberries, dark chocolate, beans, broccoli, quinoa, sweet potatoes, acai berry, sprouts, etc. Superfoods are likely to boost the immune system, assist in the prevention of cancer, heart disease, and stroke, as well as fight the onset of arthritis and diabetes.
