Stem cells are the cells that, depending on environmental influences, can change into any other cell in a fetus, and help repair damaged cells in an adult. Scientists wanted to harvest these to see if a whole new heart or live could be grown from them, though many think of it as unethical, as it takes the death of an artificially fertilized human fetus to supply these cells.
