Vancouver created sustainable housing units to house athletes and visitors visiting the city. After the Olympics are over, these eco-friendly homes will be assimilated into municipal uses rather than destroyed. Vancouver is also pushing public transportation during the Olympics, to reduce carbon emissions. All of the new buildings they built specifically for the Olympics are LEED certified. They even used parasite damged wood that had to be dut down in roofing designs – making virtually unuseable wood very much useable and attractive.
