There were many new and exciting animal species discovered in 2009. They include the Barbados threadsnake (the smallest snake in the world), Phoebaeticus chani (the longest insect in the world at 14 inches, found in Borneo), the smallest sea horse in the world, and a ghost slub in Wales.
A fanged frog was discovered in Thailand, an unusual chameleon in Tanzania, a pink Iguana on one of the islands of Galapagos.
