Sports drinks aim to provide our muscles with sugar for energy and electrolytes to keep us hydrated.
Some of the sugars used in sports drinks include fructose, sucrose, glucose, maltodextrin, or high-fructose corn syrup. All of these molecules aid our bodies in maintaining its level of high performance by giving us the best energy our body can use, sugar.
Another type of molecules used are electrolytes. Electrolytes are literally just table salt (NACL). These help our body retain water and stay hydrated for longer periods of time.
