Socks make great rags for cleaning and washing cars. One of my favorite thing to use socks for is to was my truck. Being that it fits over your hand it makes the job much easier than holding a rag or waxing sponge.
The sites I’ve provided below give some good suggestions, especially the second link. You can use old socks as whiteboard erasers, cleaning rags, ties (to attach stakes to trees), soda can insulators, etc.
If you have cats and white carpeting, old socks become your best friend when hairballs come up. Just pick up the hairball and toss it in the trash, pour some hydrogen peroxide on the stain, and scrub it out with the old sock. The stain should be history in less than five minutes.
