Alot of the strategies that I have read concerning this issue involve increased awareness among community members in order for change to occur. People need to become more informed regarding where their water supply is coming from, how it is being contaminated, and how the local government is taking measures to protect groundwater. Steps can be taken to also ensure that there is more groundwater education in schools. Community members can also become advocates for this issue in their neighborhoods by starting a “Groundwater Guardian” program and getting other people involved (City of Portland, 2011).
