There are many different courses of action our government could take to encourage the adoption of alternative fuel cars, however, a lot of them aren’t necessarily feasible. On a more local level, states could increase gas taxes and use revenues to create charge stations for electrically powered vehicles. Nationally, our government could provide research grants and/or production subsidies to the developers and manufacturers capable of producing vehicles that use alternative sources of energy. Purchasing certain models of cars could also go towards tax rebates for individual consumers. That would be a similar idea to the whole “cash for clunkers” program we saw a couple of years ago.
