Some of the risks associated with drinking raw milk are due to the fact that raw milk is unpasteurized. Unpasteurized milk can contain harmful bacteria, salmonella, listeria, campylobacter, yersinia, E. coli, and
staphylococcus strains. The ingestion of pathogens can lead to food born illnesses, birth defects and even death.
Because the pasteurization process kills anything harmful that is in raw milk, as emilyscout mentioned, drinking raw milk is essentially putting yourself at risk of ingesting any of those harmful ingredients due to the fact that raw milk is not pasteurized.
According to the FDA raw milk does not provide any nutritional or other advantages over pasteurized milk and in fact can be quite dangerous. putting anyone who drinks it in danger of illness and harmful bacteria.
