Well, one way it could be good for the environment is that actual “lawn” grass that we are used to is not native to America. It is from Europe (where they obviously get MUCH more rain than a lot of the US (which is why we here in America have to constantly artificially water our lawns)
Especially in the Southwest like Nevada, Arizona, and Southern California. It requires a lot of water to keep the lawns going.
Astroturf can save a lot of water.
However, grass is “natural” and does filter water, and does produce oxygen and suck up CO2, and astroturf is made from a lot of synthetic material….so its kind of a which is worse…
