There are a number of potential setbacks and problems with winder energy. One is that they are large, loud and unsightly. People are afraid proximity to wind turbines will drive down their property value, and many don’t want wind turbines built near their homes. Another issue is that wind power is not a constant source of energy. The wind must be blowing for energy to be generated, but typically the machines must be constantly powered, but do produce power 24/7. Thus, it is possible at times that wind power is consuming more power than it is creating. A third issue is the threat to birds and wildlife. Birds are especially vulnerable to wind turbines, as they can be sucked into engines and propellars. This is of particular concern in flyways, where there is a high volume of wind, as well as birds travelling during migration including large numbers of endangered species.
