Certain organs such as bone marrow, brain, muscles and skin contain adult or somatic stem cells, which can reproduce themselves and turn into different cells of the organ where they originate. An example is that brain stem cells can form into neurons, which are the cells responsible for the activities of the brain. Additionally, blood stem cells can form red and white bloods cells as well as platelets.
