There are some natural ways to get rid of ants although they may not work in all cases or on all species of ants. You could try sprinkling baby powder (scented talcum) or black pepper in front of the ant trail to stop them from coming further. Also, vinegar usually stops ants; try spraying it around the areas where you want to keep the ants away.
Sprinking baby powder should kill the ants and prevent more from entering if you know where they are coming from. Coffee is also used to repel them. Cream of Wheat is said to make ants explode and is carried back to the colony. Peppermint oil is supposed to be as effective as the commercial sprays and much less damaging to the environment.
