They are trying to preserve a lot of the things that everyone is in the way of natural resources. They have protection laws for animals, waterways, and land. Specifically they have laws that pertain to bears and tigers, the Mekong Delta, they also have extensive forests in the Lam Ha and Lac Duong regions. It is interesting to note that the Norwegians gave the Vietnamese some 4.4 million to stop deforestation. (This programme, called United Nations Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) is implemented in nine countries with Vietnam as the only South East Asian participant.) In general though their natural resources include: phosphates, coal, manganese, bauxite, chromate, offshore oil and gas deposits, forests, and hydropower.
