Some nations that are working together to curb carbon emissions are many nations in the European Union. The European Union has adapted an emissions trading system, or cap & trade system, which sets a cap on the amount of emissions a country can produce according to guidelines set in the Kyoto Protocol. If a country thinks it will exceed the emissions cap they are privy to, it can trade a limited number of “emissions credits” with countries who have not yet reached their “cap”.
