The Mercedes E-320 Blutec delivers 23 mpg city and 32 highway. The brand also makes a car called the S-400 Blue hybrid which gets 22 combined mpg. I like the engineering and the sturdy performance of Mercedes but unfortunately they have usually complied to the typical American demand of “bigger” and “faster.” Since we have began showing more interested in fuel efficiency though, the company has finally started to (excuse the pun) shift gears and start to produce greener vehicles.
Mercedes also makes a hybrid SUV, the ml450. The model gets 20 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, which is a big step up from the previous model, the 350 (15/20). The car seats eight, and it won’t come cheap with the Mercedes moniker. The 2011 ML450 is retailed at $55,000.
