Although its likely that these cups weren’t introduced in the west coast, its the first place I saw them used. I think it’s really “cool” that Tully’s (a west coast coffee shop chain) uses only biodegradable coffee cups (made from 25% recycled paper). Normally, the inside of coffee cups are lined with non-recyclable plastic, but these cups use a biodegradable corn based lining.
