As rigibson mentioned, recycling plastic is a very efficient way to help the environment. Some plastic bottles have numbers on top of them that let you know what kind of plastic it is and if it can be recycled. In terms of recycling plastic, some companies will melt the plastic together to make it into other products.
However, the introduction of biodegradable plastic has created a few recycling issues, since it can’t be melted with normal plastic. If this were to happen, the plastic would no longer be biodegradable. This is where plastic identification comes in handy, and it can help limit the amount of plastic at landfills.
