Fossil fuel combustion, landfills, fossil fuel mining/distributing, livestock, and cars are just a few of the main causes of greenhouse gases.
Another cause for greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere is deforestation. Trees naturally store carbon, so when they are chopped down all that carbon is released into the atmosphere. At the current rate that trees are being chopped down, there will be a severe environmental crisis on our hands in years to come. I found an interesting article on this subject, and it mainly talks about how preventing deforestation is one of the most cost effective ways to combat climate change. One of the main reasons why deforestation still continues today is for money.
