HEB, a supermarket chain in Texas, has opened a prototype store in Austin, TX and is considering adding solar panels to 300 other stores. HEB has also built a wind turbine to generate power for one of their distribution centers.
Walmart, hated though it may be by many folks, has committed to powering all of its stores using renewable energy, as well as helping its customers to make more energy-savvy choices by using suppliers that focus on high efficiency appliances and products.
