in 1903 Marie Curie became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and it was for her work in physics. Lise Meitner originally came up with the first equation that hinted that splitting an atom was possible. Emmy Noether wrote the paper which outlined what is now known as Noether’s Theorem, even though she was not even allowed to present the paper herself. In 1936 Inge Lehmann became the first person to suggest that at the center of the earth’s liquid core there may be a solid inner core.
