PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is one of the most prominent groups that fights against animal cruelty. Other animal rights groups are the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Both groups are dedicated to protecting animals by raising awareness of cruel practices against and maltreat of animals.
There are a lot of local and state-based organizations that work to fight animal abuse and neglect. One example is the Animal Cruelty Taskforce of Southern Arizona. The taskforce helps to raise awareness and help educate individuals and organizations about animal neglect and abuse. They often work with the police, animal control agencies, and investigative organizations to help prevent and protect animals from cruelty. There are also a wide variety of member organizations that work with ACT to achieve their goals, including law enforcement agencies, law enforcement individuals, and veterinarians.
If you’re American, the Humane Society of the United States is one of the largest animal protection agencies out there. Donations go to finding millions of homeless cats and dogs loving families.
If you’re interested in the protection of wild animals, it’s hard to do better than the World Wildlife Fund. They have comprehensive programs the world over dedicated to saving everything from elephants to insects, and plenty of success stories.
Friends of Animals is another group that is against animal cruelty. Since 1957 Friends of Animals has made it their goal to free animals from cruelty and institutionalized exploitation around the world. They have multiple programs that range from animal rights, to vegetarianism.
