THere is a family of gases known as F-gases which are portrayed as environmentally friendly because they do not deplete the ozone. They are still dangerous, however, because they contribute significantly to climate change. HFC, an F-gas, was developed in order to replace CFC’s, another F-gas. These gases are most commonly found in refrigeration, air conditioning, and aerosols.
Methane. Methane has 23 times the negative environmental impact that of carbon dioxide. This is a gas produced mostly by ruminating animals and is the reason the EPA requires large landfills to capture this gas.
