Kinesis Industries has a new portable Wind & Solar Charger. This dual charging item, collecting energy from the built-in fan or integrated solar panel, stores its power in a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It sports a USB port you can plug mobile devices into to charge, and Kinesis claims one hour of sun and wind charging provides about 30 minutes of talk time on a typical phone or 300 minutes of music on a MP3 player. It is weatherproof and has a power status LED.
Little DKO International has a HiSaver smart energy management power strips. Two models exist – one for computers and one for A/V equipment. Both sport an interesting motion sensor which automatically powers down select equipment after set intervals of time if no motion is detected. The PC model comes with a master socket which does not automatically power down if the sensor detects no one presence to prevent possible loss of computer data. That master though, when the plugged in computer is turned off, will put all devices, save one optional, into a very low power standby mode.
I think we will see LED lightbulbs for regular light fixtures. Before they were expensive and hard to find. I think we will also see more wireless and solar technology. I also see smaller cars becoming the new trend.
We will also see green interior design and more household products made out of recycled materials. It will also be more “hip” to raise green babies.
One of the greenest and cleanest gadgets is the Hand Bidet Sprayer that almost eliminates the need for toilet paper. Although popular in some Asian countries they are just starting to catch on in the West, especially as people get more and more concerned with the environment and saving money.
I think this will really take off as people start to learn more about bidets and how to use them.
A hand held bathroom bidet sprayer is so much better than a stand alone bidet and this is why:1. It’s less expensive (potentially allot less) 2. You can install in yourself = no plumber expense 3. It works better by providing more control of where the water spray goes and a greater volume of water flow. 4. It requires no electricity and there are few things that can go wrong with it. 5. It doesn’t take up any more space, many bathrooms don’t have room for a stand alone bidet. 6. You don’t have to get up and move from the toilet to the bidet which can be rather awkward at times to say the least. Available at http://www.bathroomsprayers.com
I personally think that the so called Copenhagen Wheel will become very popular. It is a wheel hub that fits on a bicycle, collects kinetic energy used while pedaling, and stores it for later use. It can help people cover longer distances on bikes, thus promoting more people to ride rather than using a car. Here is a link for some more new gadgets.
