Most of Bill Gates’s philanthropic work is done through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which he started with his wife in 2000. Though the Gates Foundation is primarily concerned with providing people around the world with equal access to health and education, certain foundation projects, like the Global Development program, could be considered green. The Global Development program aims to address problems such as hunger, proper sanitation and hygiene with sustainable solutions. For example, the Agricultural Development division of the program focuses on “preserving and enhancing” soil viability and on fostering the growth of local and native crops and livestock.
