Besides sleep, hot tea and a multi-vitamin, there are just a few others that work well. For a sore throat, gargle with salt water. Elevate your head during sleep to drain nasal passages. You can also take a hot steamy shower. Hot liquids always help. I like to add a bit of echinacea to hot water for an extra boost.
Hot tea with honey works very well when dealing with a common cold. Ginger, garlic, and cayenne pepper also help with symptoms. Steam helps, so hot showers are advisable, as well is boiling a pot of water on the stove with herbs and spices inside.
Hot water, honey, and apple cider vinegar (which works as a natural cleansing aid). Lots of hot showers are good. Also, investing in a nettie pot is a good idea to clean out your nasal passages. Sucking on ginger works as a natural throat soother and cough suppressant.
Echinacea is a scientifically proven immuno-stimulant that helps to encourage the growth of white blood cells. Echinacea is also a proven antiviral with antioxidant and other healthful qualities. Echinacea is excellent as a tea and readily available from most supermarkets. Lemon balm tea may also be helpful because it contains rosmaric acid which is a proven antiviral.
