Eco-travel or eco-tourism often focuses more on environmentally-friendly travel destinations and “greener” hotels than it does on how you actually get there, but there are some things you can do to “green” your trip. Many airlines and cruise ships either purchase carbon offsets or give you the option of paying extra for them, in order to make up for the pollution generated by your trip by paying for tree-planting to absorb carbon dioxide. You can also plan your trip to use less energy-intensive travel means, such as buses or trains.
