The growth of plants after a forest fire is called secondary succession.  In general, the process starts with grasses that grow back.  This is followed by shrubs.  There is a very low number of species that first grow back after a forest fire.  These species often reproduce quickly, but die young.  After these plants have settled, trees and forests proceed.
