Wang Canfa, a professor of political science and law at the China University, is director of the Center for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims, based out of Beijing, and was recognized by Time Magazine in 2007 as a one of the “Heroes of the Environment.”
Ma Jun, trained as a journalist, wrote China’s Water Crisis (which has been compared to Silent Spring by Rachel Carson) and is director of the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs. He has also been recognized for his environmental work in Time Magazine, though on the list of 100 most influential persons in the world in 2006.
Sun Xiaodi has been working to get the Chinese government to clean up a uranium mine in the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture where radioactive contamination has been a problem for more than ten years. He received the Nuclear-Free Future Award in 2006.
