In 1997, researcher Arthur Weis reused mustard seeds and planted them during the time of drought in 2004. He found out that these new plants bloomed fewer flowers but eight days earlier in the springtime. The plants were also smaller than the originals that were grown before the drought, changing to adjust to the minimal water environment.
