The pilot community supported fishery (CSF), the Mid-Coast Fisherman’s Cooperative, is located in Port Clyde, Maine. This program started back in 2007 and is based off the community supported agriculture model, which aims to give local farmers or fishermen a competitive price while hauling in smaller harvests. This makes it possible for smaller businesses to avoid being undercut by huge corporations. Also, this pumps money directly back into communities and provides locals with a more sustainable food source.
