A few environmental tips for high school students include the age old concept of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Reducing one’s waste and consumption requires cognitive awareness. As a mentor, you can specifically site examples at their school. Reuse is a concept most ignored. Remember using a lunch box as a kid? This is virtually a trashfree lunch! Maybe it’s reusing notebooks (3-ring) more than once…As for recycling, most schools already provide bins for separating recyclables. However, teaching them to reuse (ie. canteen for water), instead of using water bottle (recyclable), will help reduce waste and energy!
